Green Energy Policy

At ZED School we pay close attention to our planet-friendly policies, so all of our electricity to charge the car comes from renewable sources.  When we buy our energy from the grid it comes from renewable sources, because we choose not to support the suppliers who burn fossil fuels to generate electricity.  (We also own a small percentage of a wind farm, meaning that we have also supported the UK effort to generate renewable electricity)

Solar Power Discounts

In the Summer months we can often go one step further, by charging the car using the electricity generated from the solar panels on our roof.  When this happens the energy doesn't need to come from the grid, it's completely green, and it costs us nothing.

So if we are not paying for it, then why should you?

ZED School passes on these savings to you in the form of a discount when you book your lessons.  You don't have to do anything; you will see the discount applied automatically at checkout.  The discount amount will vary, depending on how sunny it has been in the days before you made your booking.

How is the discount applied?

We obviously can't guarantee that the day of your lesson will be sunny, so we can only offer a solar power discount at the time you book.  If you book your lesson when the sun has been shining, you see the discount applied automatically at checkout.  You will know that the energy from the sun has been used to charge the car, and that either you or another of our students will benefit from it.  Either way - you get the discount, because it was sunny at the time you made the booking.

Is my lesson solar powered?

On the day of your lesson, we will also display signage in the car telling you when your lesson is fuelled by energy that came from the sun.  Even if you don't see the sign, you can still be happy in the knowledge that the energy came from other renewable sources instead (wind power).  It did NOT come from fossil fuels.
